RATIONS "Martyrs and Prisoners" 7" 86D012

Six tracks of stripped down punk/hardcore shouted, screamed, and sung with distorted soul and tortured melody. This Long Island, NY quartet of aging punkers deconstructs the verse-chorus-verse paradigm and replaces it with linear blasts and brief vignettes. With a running time of 11-minutes, the entire EP is couched in a harsh ambient background collage of bleeps, blops, and static noise. The songs themselves range from visceral accounts of human trauma and mental anguish to headier meditations on labor, hierarchy, and war; mostly melancholy but punctuated by parts of joy and hope. The record's visual style borrows heavily from the days of punk-past with jagged hand-typeset text sitting on washed out halftone images in black and red.

White vinyl 7"s hand-numbered to 1,100 packaged in thick linen stock folders that include a cloth patch and download card. Mastered by Dan Randall at Mammoth Sound and cut for vinyl by Dave Eck at Lucky Lacquers. Cooperatively released by 30 DIY punk/hardcore record labels in 11 countries.
